Alpine Bank retains “green” certification

A Western Colorado bank has retained its certification for meeting international standards for environmental management.

Alpine Bank has been recertified for another three years to maintain its International Standards Organization (IS0) 14001 designation. Alpine Bank first earned the designation in 2006 and has been recertified twice since then. The bank remains the only financial services company based in the U.S. to hold the designation.

“Registration to the ISO 14001 standard is a tangible way that Alpine Bank helps protect our Western Colorado lifestyles while reducing the cost of bank operations,” said David Miller, an assistance vice president who serves as chairman of a green team at the bank.

Alpine Bank has implemented a system to conserve resources and reduce environmental effects that covers everything from recycling to energy efficiency to environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.
