Benefit obstacle race planned

The Western Colorado Contractors Association has scheduled its annual benefit obstacle race for May 10 at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway.

The race, dubbed the Gauntlet, will begin at 9 a.m. with heats every 20 minutes. The 5-kilometer race will feature a hay bale climb, pipe crawls and tire obstacles as well as mud pits. Proceeds will go to Special Olympics of Western Colorado.

Admission for participants age 12 to 17 is $25 through May 7, $30 afterward. Admission for participates age 18 and over is $45 through May 7, $55 afterward. The event also is open to teams of four. To register or obtain more information, log on to
