Book store plans author events

Crystal Books and Gifts in downtown Grand Junction will host a series of free events featuring local authors.

The first presentation in the new “Off the Shelf” series is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 14 at the store, located at 439 Main St.

The event will feature Eliot Cowan, a teacher and author who has developed an alternative healing technique known as plant spirit medicine. Cowan will discuss the practices of shamans as detailed in his book “Trance Spirit Medicine: A Journey Into the Healing Wisdom of Plants.”
