Book store to participate in teacher awards program

The Barnes & Noble outlet in Grand Junction will join in a new awards program honoring teachers.

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade can nominate their teachers for the contest by writing essays, poems or thank-you letters that reflect how their teachers have influenced their lives and why they appreciate and admire their teachers.  In Grand Junction, entries should be submitted to Laura Mettauer at the Barnes & Noble store at 2451 Patterson Road. Entries are due March 18, 2011.

Winning teachers from Grand Junction will be recognized at a local event as well as entered into a regional contest. A national winner will be selected from among six regional winners. The national winner will receive $5,000 for themselves, $5,000 for their school and an event with a well-known author.
