Businesses to host fund-raisers for animal shelter

Three Grand Valley businesses will host events to raise money for the Roice-Hurst Humane Society animal shelter.

Chow Down Pet Supplies will host the Howl-O-Ween Hustle, a benefit 1-mile walk and run on Oct. 26 on the Audubon Trail near the pet supply store at 2518 Broadway Unit B4. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the walk and run at 10 a.m. An entry fee of $20 will include a t-shirt. Dogs dressed in Halloween costumes will be entered in a competition for a $500 gift certificate from Chow Down Pet Supplies.

Fruita Co-op Country and veterinarian Paul Grych will host a benefit dog vaccination and microchipping clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at Fruita Co-Op Country, 1650 U.S. Highway 6 & 50.

The Hot Tomato Cafe & Pizzeria, at 124 N. Mulberry St. in Fruita will host a Paws and Pies fund-raiser Nov. 2. Ten percent of sales that day, including alcoholic beverages and takeout orders, will go to the Roice-Hurst Humane Society. The event also will include a raffle, giveaways and a drawing.
