Cabela’s adds Winston rod Co. brand to selection of fly-fishing rods
Cabela’s now offers the Winston Rod Co. brand of fly-fishing rods through Cabela’s catalogs, Web site and stores, including its new store in Grand Junction.
Cabela’s will sell six Winston models in a range of rod weights and sizes, offering models for anglers of varying skill and experience levels.
“I am tremendously excited to be able to offer Winston fly rods to our local Cabela’s customers,” said Jason Proctor, Cabela’s category manager for fly-fishing. “The R.L. Winston Rod Co. has long been known as one of the top American fly-rod manufacturers. Their quality and history in the rod-making business is legendary.”
The Winston Rod Co. was founded in 1929 when Robert Winther and Lew Stoner acquired the Western Fishing Rod Co. of San Francisco.
The Winston name — now among the most iconic in the fly-fishing industry — is a contraction of the two men’s last names.
Headquartered in Sidney, Neb., Cabela’s operates 30 destination retail stores as well as directly markets to customers through its catalogs and Web site at www.cabelas.com. In Grand Junction, the Cabela’s is located in the Mesa Mall at 2424 U.S. Highway 6 & 50.
