Discovery founder keynote speaker at GJEP meeting
John Hendricks, the founder of the Discovery Channel as well as a growing resort in Mesa County, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Grand Junction Economic Partnership.
The meeting is set for noon Oct. 13 at Two Rivers Convention Center, 159 Main St. in downtown Grand Junction.

Ann Driggers, president and chief executive officer of GJEP, said Hendricks should constitute a big draw for the event. “I think he’s going to be an excellent speaker,” she said.
Driggers said she expects Hendricks to talk about his experiences in developing the Discovery cable television channel as well as his interests in Mesa County.
Hendricks, chairman of Discovery Communications, also has been involved in developing the Gateway Canyons resort southwest of Grand Junction. The resort includes a store, restaurant, auto museum and spa.
In addition, Hendricks serves as chairman of Experius, a company that offers unique vacation experiences through learning, adventure and community.
