Entrepreneur adds another versatile product to her offerings

A Grand Junction entrepreneur who launched a fast-growing venture selling women’s handbags with interchangeable covers now offers another versatile product: sandals with interchangeable bands.

Marilyn Hall has become the Colorado distributor for Bandals International, a manufacturer and marketer of Bandals footwear.

The company has created five styles of sandals with a total of nearly 70 interchangeable bands in a variety of colors and patterns. The shoes feature a patented design in which the bands slide through the bases for quick changes.

Hall said Bandals offer not only versatility, but also comfort and affordable prices. “Women want it all. With a shoe like Bandals, they can. It’s like having a dozen new pairs of shoes without breaking the bank.”

Hall is only the second Bandals distributor in the country. She can distribute products to retail outlets throughout Colorado as well as to sales representatives virtually anywhere. Hall said she’s already working with 15 sales representatives.

Hall sells Bandals through a number of channels, including select retail locations and home parties.

The product line includes two styles of flip flops, a casual slide sandal, a platform wedge and a gladiator-style sandal. All of the sandals feature a molded footbed to offer comfort and support. A wide variety of interchangeable bands and straps can be purchased for each sandal to change looks or match outfits.

Hall said she was approached by Bandals International about becoming a distributor and working with the company to develop direct sales.

Last year, Hall launched a venture selling Miche Bags, a product that pairs base handbags with interchangeable outer shells to offer a variety of different colors, fabrics and styles.

In November, Hall and her growing group of independent sales representatives posted the best first month of sales for a new distributor in the history of Miche Bags.

Based on a little more than two months of sales in 2009, Hall was named best distributor of the year and received an additional award for achieving what’s typically an annual sales level.
