ER doctor oversees wound care
Fred Barbero has become medical director of wound care for Family Health West in Fruita.
Barbero oversees a wound care center and five-person team that treats patients with difficult-to-heal wounds. He brings to his position 36 years of experience as an emergency room doctor, most recently as medical director of the Family Health West emergency department. He received his medical training at the University of Utah.
“We are so fortunate to have the wealth of experience and professionalism that Dr. Barbero brings to the wound care center,” said Mark Francis, president and chief executive officer of Family Health West. “It provides advantages to patients who need specialized intervention to assist with healing their wounds. It also provides an option for physicians to refer their patients for assistance with difficult-to-heal wounds.”
