Family Health West hospital earns recognition

The Family Health West hospital in Fruita has been recognized for its performance in providing health care services.

The hospital received a HealthStrong Award from iVantage Health Analytics, a company that provides products to more than 500 hospital across the United States.

“We are proud to accept this award,” said Mark Francis, president and chief executive officer of Family Health West. “Our dedicated staff is committed to providing the best in health care services, and this award demonstrates that commitment.

“However, we must thank our community for entrusting us with their care in the first place,” Francis added. “We wouldn’t be here without them, and we look forward to further expanding services to not only meet their health care needs, but to exceed their expectations in treatments and customer service.”

The latest HealthStrong Award winners were announced at an annual meeting of the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health. The awards are based on the Hospital Strength Index developed by iVantage to recognize top-performing hospitals. The index ranks more than 4,400 acute-care hospitals in the United States on the basis of eight performance categories and 56 different metrics.

“Rural hospitals have new and difficult demands that can only be managed with better information. The Hospital Strength Index reflects the multiple challenges of running a hospital by incorporating the measures on which the industry has worked to gain consensus and standardization,” said John Morrow, executive vice president of iVantage.

Michelle Mills, chief executive officer of the Colorado Rural Health Center, praised Family Health West for winning the award. “Family Health West hospital receiving this award validates the quality of care that rural providers in Colorado provide to patients and is also a testament to the commitment and dedication of their medical and nursing staff that impact patients every day.”

In addition to its hospital, Family Health West operates treatment and therapy centers, an assisted-living facility and long-term care facility. For more information, log on to the website located at
