Federal building renovation award-winning effort

A $15 million renovation project at the Wayne Aspinall Federal Building and Courthouse in downtown Grand Junction was among 10 winners of awards recognizing architectural design in Colorado.

The project, an effort that involved the Beck Group in Denver and Westlake Reed Leskosky architectural firm in Cleveland, received the honor award for built architecture from the American Institute of Architects Colorado.

The project both preserved features of the nearly century old building and installed new renewable energy and energy efficiency technology.
