Former congressman to oversee government association

A former congressman and state representative has been hired as the new executive director of the Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado (AGNC).

Scott McInnis will oversee the association of cities and counties in Garfield, Mesa, Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt counties.

“Scott’s extensive background in government, energy, public lands, natural resources, water issues and tourism makes him highly qualified for this position. We are absolutely thrilled to have him on board,” said Mike Samson, a Garfield County commissioner and chairman of the AGNC.

McInnis served as a U.S. congressman and state representative from Western Colorado and also campaigned as a gubernatorial candidate. An attorney, McInnis also worked as a special partner with the Hogan and Hartson law firm.
