Former health plans chief executive elected to colorado trust board

John Hopkins, the recently retired president and chief executive office of Rocky Mountain Health Plans, is among three people elected to the Colorado Trust Board of Trustees.

Hopkins joins Dr. Alan Synn, a founding member of the Vascular Institute of the Rockies, and Colleen Schwarz, vice president of sales for the Community Reinvestment Fund, on the nine-person board.

“Alan, John and Colleen bring strong expertise and insights in the areas of health care, health coverage and financial management,” said Kathryn Paul, chairman of the board of the Colorado Trust, a foundation that awards grants to provide access to health care for Colorado residents.

Hopkins served as president and CEO of Rocky Mountain Health Plans based in Grand Junction until his retirement in 2009. He joined the health benefits plan provider in 1986 as pharmacy services manager and later worked as director of legislative and government affairs and director of provider administration.
