Fruita chamber names new director

A woman with experience in marketing, sales and event management has been hired as the new executive director of the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce.

Bobbie Orchard is scheduled to begin her new duties starting May 5 and expects to attend the Colorado Chamber of Commerce executive conference set for later that week.

Orchard will succeed Shauna Exner, who has worked for the Fruita chamber for eight years and served as executive director for the past 18 months.

“The Fruita chamber is an integral part of our community. I am looking forward to becoming a part of it and am excited to get started,” Orchard stated in a news release from the Fruita chamber.

According to the release, Orchard brings to her new position experience in coordinating events, performing within budgetary guidelines, keeping a diverse audience informed and communicating through a variety of channels.

Orchard brings to her new position experience in a varied career that’s included the marketing and sales of industrial equipment, revenue management and events coordination in the hotel industry. She’s worked in the health care industry for the past seven years.

Orchard coordinated more than 100 events a year and managed staff members and a budget while working with a nonprofit board.

She has lived in Fruita for more than seven years and in Colorado for 23 years.
