Fruita chamber names new director

A woman with more than 15 years of experience in marketing and event coordination has been hired as the new director of the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber announced that Leanne Ingwersen will serve as the new director. Ingwersen succeeds Mary Lou Wilson, whose resignation in February sparked a dispute over the actions of the chamber board.

According to the announcement from the chamber, Ingwersen has lived in Fruita 19 years and worked with the City of Fruita on the Mike the Headless Chicken Festival and other parks and recreation department events.

She’s also been involved with such Grand Junction events as the Art & Jazz Festival and weekly downtown farmer’s markets.

Ingwersen brings to her latest duties more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing, event coordination, grant writing and nonprofit management.
