Fruita Chamber of Commerce honors businesses and individuals

A grocery store and thrift shop were among the winners of annual awards presented by the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce.

The City Market outlet in Fruita was selected as the large business of the year, while the Fruita Thrift Shop was honored as the small business of the year.

Sandra Haulman of Wildcat Rentals was named chamber member of the year. In addition to donating her time and loaning a tent or lighting for events, Haulman manages the chamber Facebook page.

Brenda Brock, manager of the Alpine Bank branch on Horizon Drive in Grand Junction, was honored as the Grand Valley young professional of the year. Brock has belonged to the Grand Valley Young Professionals since 2006, when she served on a steering committee for the organization. She subsequently became a member of the GVYP board of director and serves as financial officer of the group.
