Fruita teacher wins Barnes & Noble contest

Joe Webb, a teacher at Fruita Middle School, has been selected as the local winner of the Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest.

Webb was among the nominees for the award submitted to the Barnes & Noble store at 2451 Patterson Road in Grand Junction. Students were invited to submit essays, poems or thank-you letters reflecting how teachers have influenced their lives and why they appreciate or admire their teachers. Webb was nominated by Megan Kreie, a seventh grade student at Fruita Middle School.

Webb will now be entered in a regional competition in which five winners will be selected. Barnes & Noble will choose one person as its national teacher of the year and award $5,000 to both that teacher and the teacher’s school.
