Government Web site venue for small business comments

A Western Colorado congressman expects a new online venue to offer small business owners an opportunity to comment on how the federal government helps or harms their operations.

“It’s important that Congress hears directly from our country’s job creators on how government is impacting their small businesses,” said U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton.

Tipton, a Republican from Cortez who represents the Third District, said comments posted on a Web site dubbed small biz open mic will be forwarded to the House Small Business Committee. Tipton serves on the committee. The site is located at www.smallbusiness.house.gov/openmic.

In addition to accepting comments, the Web site offers news about legislation and committee hearings as well as stories about small business growth and development.

“Small biz open mic allows all small business owners to make their voices heard and provide valuable feedback to the committee that will drive our work here in Washington,” Tipton said.
