Grand Junction companies rank among top private firms

FCI Constructors tops a list of five companies based in Grand Junction that rank among the top 250 privately owned firms in Colorado.

FCI Constructors, a construction management and contracting firm, ranked 15th in the 2013 list complied by ColoradoBiz magazine.

The 2013 rankings are based on self-reported gross revenues for 2012. To be included on the list, companies must be headquartered in Colorado.

FCI dropped one spot on the latest list although its gross revenues of more than $261 million in 2012 were 5 percent higher than 2011. The 35-year-old company employs nearly 250 people.

Dalby,Wendland & Co., a public accounting and consulting firm, ranked 77th with reported gross revenues of $16 million in 2012, up 7 percent from the year before. The firm employs a total of 95 people at six offices spread across the Western Slope.

J.G. Management Systems, a technical management and professional services company, jumped 35 spots to 94th in the latest list. The company reported gross revenues of nearly $11.5 million in 2012, up 39 percent from 2011. The 12-year-old firm employs 107 people.

Rocky Mountain Sanitation — a business that provides waste removal services to the residential, commercial and construction markets — ranks 188th on the list, up 14 places. The company has made the top 250 list for five consecutive years. Rocky Mountain Sanitation reported revenues of $2.3 million in 2012, down 26 percent from 2011. The 16-year-old firm employs 20 people.

Cobb Marketing and Communications, a 43-year-old advertising and marketing firm, ranks 227th on the list. The company reported revenues of just over $1 million in 2012, up 3 percent from the year before. Cobb Marketing and Communications employs 12 people.

 DCP Midstream captured first place in the ColoradoBiz list for 2013. The Denver-based natural gas gatherer and supplier reported more than $10 billion in gross revenues for 2012.

CH2M Hill, a global engineering and consulting company, was knocked down a spot to second place with 2012 gross revenues of $7 billion. PCL Construction came in third with 2012 gross revenues of $6.8 billion.
