Grand Junction entrepreneur wins SBA awards
Jerome Gonzales, founder, president and chief executive officer of JG Management Systems based in Grand Junction, is among the latest winners of annual awards presented by the Colorado District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Gonzales was named the 8(a) Graduate of the Year. He won the same award for SBA Region VIII, a six-state region that includes Colorado.
The award recognizes a firm that’s graduated from the SBA 8(a) business development program, which assists small businesses qualify for federal contracting set-asides and other support.
JG Management Systems offers a wide range of technical and professional services to government and private sector clients nationwide.
Since Gonzales founded the firm in 2001, JG Management Systems has ranked among the fastest-growing privately held companies as well as the best companies to work for in Colorado. The firm also has been among the winners of the Colorado Biz magazine Top Company competition, one of the most prestigious in the state.
In addition, Gonzales was a regional finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Gonzales has been honored by the SBA before as the 2010 state and regional Minority Small Business Champion of the Year and one of 10 finalists for the National Minority Small Business Person of the Year.
Other winners of the 2014 Colorado SBA awards included Wells Fargo Bank, which received recognition for its role in providing financing through the SBA 7(a) loan guaranty program.
