Grand Junction farm offering retail sales

Rooted Gypsy Farms in Grand Junction has added retail sales to its subscription-based operation.

Individual cuts of beef, lamb and pork are available at the farm, as are salad and herb mixes and fresh eggs. The farm, located at 2591 G Road, is open for retail shoppers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday through Dec. 21.

A holiday open house set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 18 will offer samples, a hot chocolate bar and live music.

“We have a lot of great product, and people are really interested in what we’re doing. So we thought we’d try out the retail market a few days a week,” said Mark Beckner, owner of Rooted Gypsy Farms.

The farm specializes in organic, free-range and hormone-free meats. The farm also delivers weekly boxes to subscription customers in the Grand Valley that includes 6 pounds of locally raised meat, salad and herb mixes and a dozen eggs.
