Grand Junction firm among top Carl’s Jr. franchisees

A business that operates Carl’s Jr. locations in Grand Junction has been honored as one of the top franchisees for the quick service restaurant chain.

Western Colorado Restaurant Group was selected 2012 Franchisee of the Year in the category for owners with two to nine restaurants. Scott and Roger Mercier own the Western Colorado Restaurant Group. Scott and Mandie Mercier operate the franchise.

The awards were announced during the annual Carl’s Jr. franchise conference in Las Vegas.

Scott Mercier said the addition of Hardee’s made from scratch biscuits to the menu has helped boost breakfast sales at his Carl’s Jr. restaurants more than 50 percent in just four months.

Carl’s Jr. restaurants are located at  2842 North Ave. and 2468 U.S. Highway 6 & 50 in Grand Junction.

Carl’s Jr. is a wholly owned subsidiary of CKE Restaurants Holdings based in Carpinteria, Calif. At the end of the 2013 fiscal year, the company had a total of 3,318 franchise and company owned Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurants in the United States and 28 foreign countries.
