Informatics director to serve on national committee
Pam Foyster, director of clinical informatics at Family Health West in Fruita, has been selected to serve on a National Healthcare Information Society (HIMSS) management engineering and process improvement committee.
The group supports and promotes the management engineering and process improvement profession by providing opportunities for collaboration, networking and professional development in national health care organizations.
Foyster joined Family Health West in December to implement a Cerner system to integrate and manage electronic medical records, physician order entries and financial information.
“Management engineering and process improvement are components of any organization’s growth and evolution. Our real-life example is the Cerner project itself.
If we install the best technology, but do nothing to improve our process, we gain nothing. We could improve processes without technology, but the gain would be limited.
By doing both, we get more out of our efforts and become an even better organization in the process,” Foyster said.
Mark Francis, president and CEO of Family Health West, said Foyster’s involvement in the group will benefit the organization. “Pam’s commitment and dedication to improving patient care is exemplified by her involvement in HIMSS. We appreciate her representing us as health care organizations all over the country work together to make positive changes in communication.”
