Lottery winnings ad up to big money in Mesa County

Mesa County retailers sold 110 winning lottery tickets worth more than $599 each during the 2013 fiscal year, bringing collective winnings to nearly $600,000, the Colorado Lottery reported.

That total doesn’t include a $2 million Powerball ticket sold at East Valley Liquors in Clifton on Aug. 8.

During the 2012 calendar year, Mesa County retailers accounted for more than $3.2 million in lottery proceeds that fund parks, recreation, open space and wildlife conservation in Colorado. Over the past 30 years, the Colorado Lottery has returned more than $2.5 billion in proceeds to the state — $66.1 million to Mesa County, alone.
