Man returns to family roots in reopening construction business

Alco Building Co. has returned to Mesa County to offer commercial construction services with an emphasis on pre-engineered steel and metal buildings.

John Turner, president and chief executive officer of Alco Building Co., decided to bring the family business back following the unexpected death in 2010 of Bobby Turner, his father and former owner of the company.

John Turner said he’s excited to return to the construction industry after working in domestic and international finance. “Since my father passed away, I have had this intention to return to my roots and do what I know I most enjoy — carry on the Turner tradition of putting people first and making beautiful, functional spaces for them to be most productive.”

Albert Turner launched Alco in 1947 and retired in 1976, transferring ownership in 1977 to his son, Bobby Turner. John Turner joined the operation in 2000 as chief financial officer
