Office furniture business earns double the recognition

A West Slope office furniture, installation and design company has won annual awards from both the Grand Junction and Delta chambers of commerce.

ProSpace Interiors was selected small business of the year by the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce in January as well as the medium-sized and overall business of the year by the Delta Chamber of Commerce in February.

The company serves Western Colorado and Eastern Utah with locations in Grand Junction and Delta and employs a total of 16 people.

To be considered for the awards, both chambers require that a business be nominated by a peer and go through a screening process conducted by an independent board. Both chambers use a questionnaire process in considering such factors as company growth, economic effects and community investments.

Founded more than 40 years ago as Office Furniture & Design Centers, ProSpace Interiors sells commercial office furnishings, but also offers custom installations as well as space planning and workspace configuration services. The company rebranded its operation in 2010 and has experienced unprecedented growth over the past two years.

Even as the company has expanded its operations over the years, founder Tom Huerkamp has expanded the philanthropic support offered by the firm. In recent years, ProSpace Interiors and Huerkamp have donated a total of more than $1 million to more than 40 different organizations in Western Colorado.

Huerkamp and other executives with the company serve on a variety of boards and commissions. They also host youth hunting trips on their properties in cooperation with the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
