Panel presentation to focus on veterans in the work force

An upcoming presentation in Grand Junction will focus on military veterans in the work force.

The Western Colorado Human Resource Association has scheduled the presentation for 11:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at Two Rivers Convention Center, 159 Main St.

The event is open to the public, including business owners and managers, human resource professionals and office supervisors.

The event is free to WCHRA members, while admission is $5 for first-time guests and $15 for others. For reservations or additional information, call 263-2584 or visit www.wchra.org.

The hour-long presentation will feature a panel discussion on how business owners and managers can better supervise a diverse work force that includes active military personnel as well as veterans.

Deletha Lampshire from the City of Grand Junction will moderate a panel that will include: Bethany Hall, a veterans employment representative at the Mesa County Workforce Center in Grand Junction; Stella Spencer, a staff sergeant with the Colorado National

Guard who specializes in retention and career counseling; and Andy Earl, a retired member of the Army National Guard who specializes in recruiting and career counseling.

The three will share their experiences in working with military personnel and veterans and following laws and regulations.

The program will include information about Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve and printed materials will be available for participants.
