Party to celebrate release of benefit vintage

A Palisade winery has scheduled a party and open house to celebrate the release of a private label vintage to benefit a Grand Valley animal shelter.

The party is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 15 at Grande River Vineyards, located at 787 N. Elberta near Interstate Highway 70 Exit 42. The event is free and open to the public.

Naomi Shepherd-Smith, co-owner of the winery, selected a merlot for a limited edition vintage to benefit the Roice-Hurst Humane Society.

Bottles of the wine will be available for sale and will be signed by Judy Rogan, an artist whose painting of a dog and cat titled “The Dashing Duo” is featured on the label. A signed and framed print of the painting will be sold at a silent auction.

“Our private label will be an ongoing tradition featuring a new vintage and design every year,” said Julie Butherus, president of the Roice-Hurst Humane Society. “We thank Naomi and Judy for their talent, passion and commitment to our animals and our mission.”
