Plumbing firm trades food and toys for services

Trading food and toys for plumbing services?

A Grand Junction company continues a holiday tradition through December by allowing customers to pay their bills by donating food and toys. Donations will go to local food banks and the Toys for Tots program.

Countryside Services will take $1 off  its bill for plumbing and drain cleaning services for every donation of a nonperishable food item and $5 off every donation of a new, unwrapped toy.

“We know that many people are having a hard time financially right now. Our customers have expressed it, and it has been rough for the local charities to meet the demand that they have, too,” said Darien Marx, owner of Countryside Services.

“We have been doing this for several years now and just feel like it is a great way to give back to our community for supporting us throughout the year,” Marx added. “Our guys have to make a few extra trips to the yard to drop off the donations throughout the day, but they are happy to do it.”
