Portion of Grand Hunction hotel converted to Econo Lodge property

Western States Motel Operations, the parent company that owns the Clarion Inn, has converted a portion of the Grand Junction hotel into an Econo Lodge property.

A 49-room redevelopment of the former Clarion annex building was completed July 5. The renovated facility located at 751 Horizon Drive offers rooms to budget-conscious travelers with many of the same amenities of the much larger Clarion Inn.

“We felt the need to expand the value based segment of our business, especially on the transient corporate level as travel starts to rebound” said Darshann Ruckman, assistant general manager at the Clarion and the new general manager of the Econo Lodge.

“The Econo Lodge is a stand-alone operation, but we also have the ability to combine our resources from an operational and marketing standpoint and this gives us a lot of flexibility,” Ruckman said.
