School District 51 coordinator receives statewide recognition

Irene Almond, programming coordinator for English language learners in Mesa County School District 51, has been recognized as the 2018 distinguished administrator in support of culturally and linguistically diverse learners.

One administrator is selected in Colorado each year for the award to recognize commitment to support students from different cultural and language backgrounds.

The Colorado Department of Education plans to honor Almond at an awards reception set for May 1 as part of the annual culturally and linguistically diverse education academy in Greenwood Village.
