Truck driving school rolls into seventh year in operation

A Grand Junction truck driving school that’s trained more than 200 students — and counting — is now in its seventh year in business.

LeRoy and Patty Arguello launched 5 Star CDL Academy in part as a way to keep busy in retirement. The operation quickly grew from one truck to three even as enrollment also increased. An additional certified instructor was hired.

Students have ranged in age from 18 to 67 and have traveled from as far as New Mexico, New York and Oregon to take the course.

In addition to preparing students to earn their commercial drivers’ licenses, 5 Star CDL also serves as a third-party tester for the state government that can certify fork lift operators.

The company operates out of the Business Incubator Center at 2591 Legacy Way. For more information, call 241-1025 or log on to www.5starcdltraining.com.
