Utility implements procedures to reduce risk of starting fires

Grand Valley Power has implemented new outage restoration procedures in response to drought conditions that have increased the risk of wildfires.

In the event of an outage, Grand Valley Power crews will inspect the entire section of an affected power line before restoring power to reduce the possibility electrical sparks could ignite a wildfire.

Moreover, Grand Valley Power trucks will carry not only shovels and fire extinguishers, but also two additional fire extinguishers.
