Video photographer and real estate executive launch media firm
A video photographer has teamed up with the owner of a real estate company in creating a media company in Grand Junction.
Scott Stuart has joined with Todd Conklin, owner and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties and Coldwell Banker Commercial Prime Properties, to launch Step Beyond Media.
The venture initially will serve as an internal media company to provide video and still photography services to real estate agents with the two firms, but then also offer services to clients outside the real estate industry, such as hospitals, offices and retail stores.
Stuart brings to Step Beyond Media his experience from a lengthy career as a video photographer.
He began working for NBC in 1997 at age 17, working his way from a studio intern to photographer over the course of three years. He later worked as a video photographer, editor and live truck driver for Fox News in Phoenix.
He returned to Colorado to work as a photojournalist in Colorado Springs and later became chief editor of WB 2 News in Denver.
Stuart switched careers to work in the oil and natural gas industry and traveled from Colorado to Louisiana as well as Canada and subsequently Prudhoe Bay in Alaska. In his spare time, though, Stuart continued to shoot and edit video on a freelance basis for production companies in Colorado.
Conklin acquired Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties and Coldwell Banker Commercial Prime Properties in 2014. The acquisitions were the latest for a company that was launched in 2006 in the Idaho resort area of Sun Valley, but expanded by buying real estate operations in Colorado in Grand Junction as well as Steamboat Springs and Vail.
The company further expanded its operations in acquiring Coldwell Banker Bailey & Co., which has served the residential real estate market in the Montrose area since 1978.
