Wal-Mart will offer free layaways for the holidays through Dec. 13, the national retail chain announced.

The program is available for electronics, jewelry, small appliances, select sporting goods and toys. Customers can start a layaway account and make payments through Dec. 13. No opening fees will be required. Wal-Mart will send payment reminders and updates to customers by e-mail.

Wal-Mart operates nearly 11,000 stores worldwide. In Grand Junction, stores are located at 2881 North Ave. and 2545 Rimrock Ave. For more information, log on to the website located at www.walmart.com.
