Wells Fargo contributes to Japan relief efforts
Wells Fargo & Co. and its employees will donate up to $1.5 million for relief efforts for the victims of the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan. Wells Fargo customers also may contribute.
Wells Fargo contributed $500,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief in Japan and will match employee contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000.
Wells Fargo customers also may donate to the American Red Cross through Wells Fargo branded automated teller machines. Customers will not be charged any fees for the service and all of the donations will go to the American Red Cross.
Wells Fargo will waive its ATM and foreign currency fees on transactions conducted by debit and consumer credit card holders in Japan through June 15.
In addition, Visa has announced it will waive interchange fees on Visa cards used through the end of April to make donations to qualifiying nonprofit organizations involved in relief efforts in Japan.
