Yoga studio to open downtown

Vine Yoga, a hatha style yoga studio, is scheduled to open Sept. 16 in downtown Grand Junction.

The studio is located at 216 S. Second St., near the intersection of Second Street and Colorado Avenue.

Vine Yoga welcomes all levels of practitioners — from beginners to advanced yogis. The studio specializes in teaching yoga as a complement to other activities, such as running or cycling.

Andreya Krieves owns Vine Yoga and also works as the primary instructor. Krieves has practiced yoga since 1999, but became an avid practitioner in 2004 after a running injury prevented her from running in the New York City Marathon that year. Unable to run, she focused her energy on yoga for fitness and recovery. She completed the marathon the following year and credits yoga for helping her recover and for preventing future injuries. She since has completed five marathons without injury while practicing yoga.

As part of a grand opening celebration, the first week of classes will be offered for free. Krieves also teaches a free yoga class scheduled for 9 a.m. Fridays in the northeast corner of Sherwood Park in Grand Junction.

For additional information, including a class schedule, call 549-1083 or visit www.vineyoga.net.
