Bank offers tips to help customers avoid overdrafts and associated fees

First National Bank of the Rockies offers tips to help customers avoid overdrafts and their associated fees.

“It’s important for our customers to know there are numerous ways to avoid paying overdraft fees. They can steer clear of most overdraft fees with a few account management tips,” said Pete Waller, president and chief executive officer of the bank, based in Grand Junction.

Customers can directly deposit their paychecks, giving them immediate access to those funds. They can also keep track of transactions, automatic payments and balances online, by telephone or through automated teller machines. Customers may link a checking account to a savings account or credit card. They also could qualify for a small line of craft to cover an overdraft. In addition, customers can keep additional money in their checking accounts to serve as a cushion against overdrafts.
