Banks support events at math and science center
Financial support from two banks will enable the John McConnell Math & Science Center of Western Colorado to offer special camps and monthly family night events.
Alpine Bank donated $5,000 to the Grand Junction center to support after-school, no-school and vacation camps. The camps offer area students an opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and math concepts.
“Alpine Bank’s generous contribution to our scholarship fund will assure that all students in our valley have access to these programs,” said Teresa Coon, executive director of the center.
Wells Fargo donated $2,250 to the center as co-sponsor of family science nights scheduled the first Thursday of every month. The events offer children, their parents and other family members a chance to explore math and science concepts. Admission is $5 per family.
“Wells Fargo is a wonderful community partner. Their support will allow the math & science center to continue to provide this very affordable opportunity for Grand Valley families to spend time together learning, creating and getting excited about science and engineering,” Coon said.
