Credit union offers college scholarships

Applications will be accepted through May 1 for four, $1,000 college scholarships offered to members of the Western Rockies Federal Credit Union.

Incoming college freshmen as well as continuing and adult students are eligible for the scholarships.

The winners will be selected on the basis of financial assistance, a minimum 2.0 grade point average, essay answer and acceptance into a college or other degree-granting institution.

Three of the scholarships are good for degree-granting institutions located in Eagle, Garfield, Mesa and Pitkin counties. The fourth scholarship is good for degree-granting institutions anywhere in  the state.

Scholarship applications are available at high school guidance counselor and college financial aid offices as well as at Western Rockies Federal Credit Union locations in Clifton, Fruita, Grand Junction and Rifle.

Chartered in Grand Junction in 1936, Western Rockies Federal Credit Union serves a total of more than 14,600 members in four counties.
