New radio station offers all-news format

A new radio station has opened in Grand Junction, broadcasting under an all-news format.

KNOZ-FM is located at 97.7 on the FM dial and broadcasts a 50,000-watt signal. The station operates from studios located at 203 Grand Ave.

“KNOZ is pleased to be on the air as the only locally owned commercial radio station in the area dedicated to news and information with local news every hour,” said Paul Varecha, the owner and operator.

Varecha brings to the station the experience he’s gained in the television and radio business. His family founded KKCO TV, an NBC affiliate in Grand Junction, as well as the KKHD TV Telemundo station and KRYD FM classic rock radio station. Varecha has helped launch 10 new broadcast stations as well as produced thousands of commercials.
