Ski resort joins in effort to offer youth program

Powderhorn Mountain Resort has teamed up with Mesa County School District 51 and local businesses and organizations to offer a recreational program for at-risk youth.

Powderhorn offers free lift tickets, lessons, rentals and lunches to participating students. Home Loan and 13 Marketing offers free transportation. Loki offers discounted clothing.

“Athletics and outdoor recreation are a great way to provide a positive, structured environment for kids. We have seen great success with a number of our kids programs here at the resort and wanted to work with District 51 in making such programs available to a broader segment of the community,” said Daren Cole, general manager at Powderhorn.

Fund-raisers are planned to sustain the program. Mesa County Partners also is accepting donations.
