Wells Fargo gives $3.7 million to Colorado nonprofits

Wells Fargo & Co. contributed a total of nearly $3.7 million to nonprofit organizations across Colorado in 2011, the financial services company announced in a news release.

In addition, Wells Fargo employees contributed more than $1.2 million and logged 28,300 volunteer hours.

“There are many families and individuals in our communities who have been affected, in some way, by the current economic challenges. And I am proud of how our company and our team members have helped make a difference for those in need,” said Nathan Christian, Wells Fargo regional president for Colorado.

Nationally, Wells Fargo contributed a total of $213.5 million to 19,000 nonprofit organizations in 2011, topping $200 million in donations for a fourth consecutive year.

Wells Fargo employees contributed nearly $64 million and logged 1.5 million volunteer hours to a total of 25,000 nonprofit groups and schools.
