Entries will be accepted through April 15 for an art contest designed to promote the importance of recycling electronics to protect data and the environment.
E-Waste Recyclers of Western Colorado will host the contest with the help of Mesa County Solid Waste Management.
“This contest is a great way to have a fun, hands-on experience with e-waste and learn more about the effects of e-waste in landfills and why everyone must work together to recycle and properly dispose of their e-waste,” said Steve Attarian, who handles sales and marketing for E-Waste Recyclers.
The contest is open to students, adults and professionals. Participants should make an appointment to pick up secured electronic waste from E-Waste Reyclers of Western Colorado before April 1. Using those materials, participants will create a work of art 3 square feet or less and submit it to E-Waste Recyclers by April 15.
Public judging of entries is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 20 as part of Earth Day and Southwest Arbor Fest at Lincoln Park in Grand Junction. The winners will be announced at 10 a.m. April 22 at the E-Waste Recyclers facility at 1027 S. Seventh St.
