The Mesa County School District 51 Foundation will be the latest recipient of a monthly fund-raiser at Kannah Creek Brewing Co. in Grand Junction.

The firkin fund-raiser is set for 5 p.m. May 1 at Kannah Creek Brewing at 1960 N. 12th St.

Stout firkin, a beer with coffee and chocolate notes, will be served. Pints will sell for $4.50. Proceeds will be donated to the D51 Foundation.

A nonprofit organization, the D51 Foundation raises funds to promote academic growth among students in the district. This year, the group hopes to raise $65,000 to purchase technology for classrooms and promote professional development for teachers.

Kannah Creek taps a firkin every Monday night and once a month conducts a fund-raiser. The Center for Independence will benefit from the next fund-raiser set for June 5.
