Vendors sought for honeybee festival

Registration remains open through April 6 for vendors who want to participate in the Palisade International Honeybee Festival.

The 11th version of the annual event is scheduled for April 13 along a couple of blocks where Main and Third streets intersect at the Town Plaza.

“We still have space for more vendors and welcome any vendors who haven’t sent in their paperwork yet,” said Tom Underwood, who’s organizing the street fair for the festival. “They may not get their first choice in location, but we will accommodate everyone as best we can.”

Vendors who want to sell honey, bee products, crafts or services can access an application form online at the website at  www.palisadehoneybeefest.org and send in the form along with a check or money order payable to PIHF to P.O. Box 1105, Palisade, CO 81526. As a convenience for those who don’t have a Palisade vendor’s license, vendors can add $10 to their $55 registration fee and send a check for $65.   The festival will remit the fee to the Town of Palisade.

Booth spaces at the festival will accommodate 10-foot by 10-foot and 8-foot by 8-foot pop-up tents. Vendors must provide their own tables and chairs.

The festival was founded by a group of local business owners to not only celebrate the agricultural heritage of Palisade, but also draw attention to the crisis of declining honeybee populations worldwide. This festival will focus this year on the ways individuals can help bees through everyday practices.
