Registration is underway for an annual event that will address a range of issues associated with economic development in Western Colorado.

The Grand Junction Economic Partnership has scheduled its economic summit for April 19 at Colorado Mesa University. The summit will coincide with an event showcasing the work of CMU students.

“We are excited to host the summit in conjunction with the CMU Student Showcase,” said Robin Brown, executive director of GJEP. “The showcase highlights the student talent that we have in the Grand Valley as well as many exceptional businesses that support local workforce development. It is a perfect fit alongside our economic development summit.”

The summit also serves as an annual meeting for GJEP and fund-raiser for the economic development organization. To register or obtain more information, log on to www.westcoeconomicsummit.com.

The summit is set to begin at 8 a.m. at the University Center with breakout sessions on real estate, tech innovation, workforce development and more. The summit will conclude with a luncheon, keynote presentation and GJEP update.

GJEP will present two awards: the Joseph Prinster Leadership Award for individual achievement in economic development and  Charter Communications Spirit of Economic Development Award to a business or organization that demonstrates community awareness and involvement. Nominations may be emailed to Cilia Kohn at cilia@gjep.org.

Brown said she’s pleased the summit has been moved from June to April. “We had so many great successes last year, I’m glad that we don’t have to wait until June to share them.”
