Employees at Alpine Bank locations volunteered a total of more than 3,000 hours in April, setting an all-time record that was more than four times the goal for the month.

In addition, Alpine Bank donated $1,000 to Court Appointed Special Advocates of Mesa County, the winner of a Facebook challenge.

“I’m so proud of our employees for giving their time to causes they feel strongly about,” said Bob Young, founder and chairman of Alpine Bank.

Employees volunteered a total of 3,171 hours in April, more than four times the  750-hour goal for the month. In Mesa County, 98 employees volunteered a collective 520 hours as part of their first Community Day event to help tackle house and yard projects.

The bank pays employees to volunteer three full days a year for the nonprofit organizations of their choice. Last year, employees volunteered a total of more than 14,000 hours.

To boost awareness of volunteering and the efforts of nonprofit organizations, Alpine Bank hosted a Facebook challenge that attracted 811 entries. Barbara Butler won the challenge and presented a $1,000 check from Alpine Bank to CASA of Mesa County. CASA supports court-appointed volunteers who serve as advocates for abused and neglected children.

“We are so grateful for the support of Alpine Bank, which has been so generous to our mission,” said Joy Thompson, executive director of CASA.
