Hospice and palliative medicine physician joins HopeWest

Dr. Sherman Straw has joined HopeWest in Grand Junction as a hospice and palliative medicine physician.

Straw brings to his duties more than 30 years of experience as a family medicine specialist as well as an instructor with the St. Mary’s Hospital Family Practice Residency in Grand Junction.

“I’m excited to welcome Dr. Straw to our organization. His leadership and experience are great assets to our organization. But more importantly, I’m confident in the impact he will make on our patients and families,” said Christy Whitney, president and chief executive officer of HopeWest.

Straw graduated from Northern Arizona University and then Arizona College of Medicine. After completing a residency in family medicine, he launched a private practice in Palisade. He’s board certified in family medicine and was named a fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine.
