City of Grand Junction seeks artists

The City of Grand Junction and the Commission on Arts and Culture are looking for artists to create original mural designs that will transform Conex boxes (i.e., shipping containers) used for storing park maintenance equipment into colorful, artistic expressions that enhance the park-user experience.

The theme for the project is Parks & Recreation. Artwork is preferred to reflect the character of the park where the Conex box will be located. For example, the box at Canyon View Park could feature a soccer-themed design. The deadline to submit proposals is May 25, and the application can be found at gjcity.seamlessdocs.com/f/ConexBoxMuralApp.

Interested artists are encouraged to apply by submitting proposals, design sketches and annotated images of representative original work. The selection panel will include representatives from the City of Grand Junction and the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture.

Funding for this project comes from a Safer Streets grant from the Department of Justice.
